Whzan technology in new HSJ Award win

North Central London ICB in partnership with Training Hub & Whzan’s Blue Box wins prestigious HSJ Patient Safety Award

North London ICB has been announced as the winner of the Digital System and Process Development Award at the HSJ Patient Safety Awards 2022

With quality and safety firmly at the heart of patient care – and with a sector-wide commitment to demonstrating best practice and sharing pragmatic ideas and solutions – there has never been a better time for teams and individuals to showcase their achievements. As in all previous years, the detailed assessment process was overseen by an extensive and impressive range of highly respected stakeholders from across the UK healthcare community.

Over the past two years, starting with support from UCL Partners, North Central London CCG, as part of the Digital Care Homes programme in North Central London, has worked in partnership with Whzan Digital Health. The aim of the largest project on the programme was to successfully embed Whzan remote monitoring technology into at least 50 per cent of the care homes in NCL, supporting them to develop a wider digital capability. The project has been recognised as the most successful remote monitoring project in London, with significant system benefits already being seen because of the team’s hard work.

On being awarded this accolade, John Cooling from Whzan commented,

“What a thrill and honour for our Blue Box technology to have played a part in this award. It means so much to everyone involved at Whzan supporting NCL with their ambitious programme delivering a substantial improvement to patient safety within care homes. It’s a brilliant example of combining wholly appropriate technology with superb clinical management."

The Awards ceremony plays a key part in the 2-day HSJ Patient Safety Congress, which took place on 24 & 25 October.

Chair of the 2022 Congress is Shaun Lintern, Health Editor of the Sunday Times. He comments; “The HSJ Patient Safety Awards ceremony was such a highlight of the Congress and I’d like to offer my heartfelt congratulations to North Central London ICB on winning the Digital System and Process Development Award. They really do embody everything our speakers and delegates had been discussing and debating over the course of the Congress, as well as demonstrating that everybody has a role to play in patient safety.”
