Introducing Whzan Blue Box Lite – A Simple Way to Run a Virtual Ward

Whzan is proud to introduce Blue Box Lite, our most accessible virtual ward solution yet.

Developed in partnership with North Hampshire Urgent Care (NHUC)‘s Virtual Care at Home team, Blue Box Lite is a simple, affordable, and patient-friendly way to manage virtual care pathways without the heavy setup, intensive training, or technical burden that often comes with traditional systems.

As an NHS healthcare provider, NHUC had a clear vision: to make it easier for patients to be admitted and onboarded into a virtual ward without relying on complex technology or face-to-face instruction.


For us at Whzan, this is how we work best: listening and learning from the people at the heart of supplying better care. Our Head of Client Services, Chris & our CTO, Keith, wanted something simple to use (for all), scalable & cost-effective for partners.


We got to work and scoped out our solution.


Here’s how it works:


  • Readings – Patients can use their own equipment to take their readings, if it has not supplied by us or their local NHS .

  • Text Alerts – Patients are sent text reminders when it’s time to take their observations in accordance with their clinical plan, which could be 2 or 3 reminders each day.

  • One simple link in the text, takes them to a secure web page that works on any mobile browser, where they confirm their name, enter their readings (such as blood pressure and temperature), and press submit.

  • Results appear instantly in the virtual ward dashboard, where clinical teams will review and action if needed.


It’s easy for patients, it’s efficient for the NHS, and it’s ready to go without complex infrastructure or IT headaches.
