Early action by Walfinch carers gives family more time together

When a family in Milton Keynes noticed changes in their mother’s health, her care team at Walfinch Home Care were already one step ahead. Using the Whzan Blue Box, they carried out a series of quick wellbeing checks that showed clear signs something wasn’t right.

The readings – including oxygen levels, pulse, temperature and blood pressure produced a NEWS2 score, the NHS-recognised early warning system for detecting clinical deterioration. With this evidence, carers were able to effectively communicate their concerns, leading to a hospital admission and timely medical attention.
For Alison, whose mother was receiving care, the swift action of Walfinch’s team meant her family had valuable extra time together. “Without the Blue Box checks, Mum might have died alone in her flat,” she said in an interview with Milton Keynes Citizen.
Supporting carers with the right tools
At Whzan Digital Health, we believe that technology should strengthen the relationship between carers and the people they support. The Whzan Blue Box enables carers to take accurate observations, record data securely, and share it with health professionals when needed.
For Walfinch, it’s become part of their approach to proactive, person-centred care – helping teams identify changes early and act quickly when health concerns arise.
Partnership in practice
Walfinch are now extending the use of Whzan across their network, embedding wellness checks into everyday care and community initiatives such as their Thrive Clubs. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to safer, more connected care that empowers carers and benefits those they support.
Quietly proud
Stories like Alison’s show how combining clinical insight with professional care can make a real difference. We’re proud to provide the tools that help dedicated care teams like Walfinch deliver safer, more responsive care across the UK.
