Solcom Ltd, the company behind Whzan, has achieved ISO 13485:2016 certification, reflecting a broader commitment to quality, security, transparency and responsible supplier practice.
We often talk about how the Whzan Blue Box and platform help care teams evidence good practice. They support more consistent observations, clearer escalation, better oversight and a stronger record of what has happened for each person in their care.
The same principle applies to us as a business.
Technology used in health and care has to do more than work well on a demonstration screen. It needs to be reliable in busy services. It needs to protect sensitive information. It needs to be developed carefully, supported properly and improved over time. Most importantly, the organisations using it need confidence in the people and processes behind it.
That is why Solcom Ltd, the company behind Whzan, is pleased to have achieved ISO 13485:2016 certification for its medical device quality management system.The certification covers the design, development, validation, maintenance and support of software as a medical device, as well as the distribution of associated medical devices.
For Whzan and the clients we support, this is an important step. It gives additional structure to the way we manage product development, documentation, validation and ongoing improvement. It also reflects the responsibility that comes with providing technology used across NHS, care homes, homecare and private healthcare settings.
It does not sit on its own.
Solcom has held ISO 9001 quality management certification since 2016 and ISO/IEC 27001 information security certification since 2022. Together, these standards support the everyday systems that sit behind our work: how we manage quality, how we protect information, how we review risk and how we keep improving.
We also hold Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus for the whole organisation. Cyber Essentials Plus adds independent technical testing, giving clients further reassurance that core cyber controls are not just documented, but checked in practice.
For health and care partners, data assurance is equally important. Solcom has completed the NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit for 2025-26 with Standards Exceeded, providing recognised assurance that we practise good data security and handle personal information correctly. We are also certified against the TSA TEC Quality Standards Framework for telehealth monitoring supply, a sector-specific framework focused on quality, safety, user experience, information governance, business continuity, ethics and continuous improvement.
That wider picture matters because procurement teams, clinical leads, care operators and commissioners are rightly looking beyond product features. They want to know whether a supplier is safe to work with, whether its processes are mature, and whether it understands the standards expected across health and social care.
We also know assurance is not only about data and technology. Whzan has recently achieved NHS Evergreen Level 2, reflecting progress against NHS sustainability expectations. We publish our annual Carbon Reduction Plan and Modern Slavery statement on our website, have completed the Modern Slavery Assessment Tool with a score of 81%, and are working towards ISO 14001 environmental management certification.
None of this is about collecting badges for the sake of it. It is about giving clients confidence that the same discipline we encourage through our technology is part of the way we operate ourselves.
Good governance should be practical. It should make decisions clearer, risks easier to manage and services safer to run.
